During the Soft Skull partnership reading periods, faculty and Fellows are invited to submit book-length manuscripts to be considered for publication by Soft Skull Press.
- The prize is open to all fellows and faculty, including those who have already published earlier works of book-length fiction.
- Soft Skull may choose to select more than one title from each submission period. Or they may decline to select a winner in any given year.
- Kimbilio has no role in manuscript selection and Soft Skull may choose not to select a winner from the submitted projects.
- Soft Skull will negotiate a standard publishing agreement between the prize-winning author(s) and their representatives (if any). Kimbilio is not a party to these agreements.
- Soft Skull will offer an advance of no less than $10,000 to each prize winner!
Established in 1992, Soft Skull’s publishing roster includes such distinguished authors as James Hannaham, Sigrid Nunez, and Kevin Powell.
