It is critical that you notify me of your trip plans as soon as they are finalized at dinapier@icloud.com. This includes travel by plane, train, automobile, walking, crawling, parachuting in, and so forth.
The 2023 Kimbilio Summer Retreat will be held at SMU-in-Taos (Fort Burgwin). Please note, the campus is NOT in the town of Taos. Fort Burgwin is located about seven miles southeast of the main part of Taos in the Carson National Forest.
Plan on arriving on campus no later than 5:00 pm on Sunday, July 23. Dinner and orientation will begin at 5:30 pm. Taos travel details can be found on the SMU website here. The departure date is Saturday, July 29 by noon.
The Albuquerque airport (ABQ) is about 2.5 hours away from campus. The Santa Fe airport (SAF) is about 1.5 hours away from campus.
Arrival:
· Free shuttle service will leave ABQ at 12:00pm (noon) and 3:00pm on July 23
· Free shuttle service will leave SAF at 1:00pm and 4:00pm on July 23
If you would like to take advantage of the complimentary shuttle service, schedule your flight to arrive at ABQ or SAF airport before the last shuttle departs. Anyone arriving outside of that window will have to make their own way to campus. We will, of course, make adjustments for flight delays or cancellations, but these are the scheduled shuttle times.
Santa Fe Valet will provide shuttle service. Please retrieve your luggage upon arrival, and drivers will be waiting for you outside the Baggage Claim exit doors in the loading zone. The shuttles will leave on time.
On July 23, the campus will open at 2:00pm. If you are making your own way to campus, please do not arrive before 2:00pm.
Departure:
· Free shuttle service will depart campus for ABQ and SAF at 7:00am and 10:00am on July 29
· Flights from SAF should NOT be scheduled to leave before 10:00am
· Flights from ABQ should NOT be scheduled to leave before 11:00am
If you would like to take advantage of the complimentary shuttle service, schedule your flight to depart from ABQ or SAF according to the times listed above. Anyone departing outside of that window will have to make their own way back to the airport.
Santa Fe Valet will provide shuttle service. Please proceed to the Dining Hall with your luggage where vehicles will be waiting for you. The shuttles will leave on time.
On July 29, campus rooms should be vacated by 10:00am for the next group’s arrival. If you are arranging your own departure, you are free to wait in the Dining Hall until 12:00pm (noon).
